I had to replace the driver's side door lock on the '63 Plymouth because the ring part that connects to the rod was broken off. I used a '64 Dodge door lock to replace it and took it to the locksmith to set up the keys.

Every door lock I've seen from this era bends down but one of the door locks bends in the opposite direction(see photo). Is this correct? I have nothing to compare it with because the original lock was snapped off where that part is.

I've tried to fit in one that bends down because there's no way I could get the reverse bend lock to work and since then I broke it trying to bend it up.

I've come close to fitting the lock with the normal bend in a mock up but I have to pull the door lock out where it inserts into the door to get it close to fitting. Is this a problem with the rod that connects it to the button mechanism. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks IMGP1484.jpg

The lock on the left in your picture is correct for a 63 Plymouth. Both doors.

No, there is a left and right. The Z end of the rod goes through the lock cylinder arm from the door panel side toward the door skin side. From page 23-21 of the Factory Service Manual:

I'm still up against it on this door lock-I believe this is the correct configuration for the door lock ( this is off a '62 Belvey driver's side door). My biggest problem is the clip at the top of the link rod that holds the link rod in the door lock loop. I've tried to ad lib on this with different clips but the torque twists the link rod off when the key is turned. Clearly I need the right clip. Does anyone have a connection to a parts car so I can get the right clip for this? I've added two pictures with a full view of the door lock and link rod and a closeup of where it connects. thanks IMGP1611.jpgIMGP1613.jpg

Not to hijack your thread but did your locksmith re-key your lock? The guy I went to on my 64 locks which look the same said it was sealed lock and could not be re-keyed.. is this true?

yes he did with no problems

I'll try them for sure thanks. I did get one quote from a guy-he wanted 50 bucks for the link rod and clip so with the exchange (CA dollars), shipping and tax at the border that little piece was pushing 100 bucks by the time it gets here.

there was no problem re-keying the lock.
