Drive shaft balancing

Can anyone tell me.... if the big round weight on the yoke end of the driveshaft is for 4 speed cars .... or a special purpose.... i need to replace mine and the one i have has the big weighted flange on it....and the one i want to use does not......anyhelp would be appriciated...i have a vibration problem... any suggetstions feel free to imput.... if you can send me a pm i don't come to the site everyday.... unless someone pm's me...

From what I've seen it's unique to each individual driveline depending on how out of balance it is. I've cut down a few drivelines in my day. I put a about a half a quart of transmission fluid in the tube before I welded them together the fluid would seek it's own balance. But then that was 20 years ago I'm sure there's something better out there by today's standards
