Hi All,
I am swapping my 318/727A engine/trans for a 440/727B engine/trans, 8 3/4 in rear end. Can I use my original driveshaft or will I have to modify it? Do I also need to get a different crossmember? Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,

The 727A&B trans tailhousing mounting locations are the same and therefore your crossmember and driveshaft will not need to be modified.

*The above answer is on the assumption your 727B is NOT a shortshaft trans from a motorhome AND your NOT changing the rear to an 8.75 from another rear or from an existing 8.75 to a dana or something else as the centerline's would be different and affect the required driveshaft lengths.

also, you did not clarify if your 727 was a pushbutton trans or not.. this would affect the location of the transmission mount.
