I was working on a lokar throttle cable this morning and tightened up the carbureted end and lo and behold the Allan key fell out of my hand right into the port below the carburetor. Now does that go into the head or into the galley below the intake? I figure it it’s in the galley I will leave it, but in the head, there goes my summer.

Think about it for a moment. If that opening went into the head, what would be the consequences ? Now... you don't have a magnetic probe to snake to retrieve the allen key ?

If it's the half moon shaped cavern, it doesn't go anywhere. Like WileE said, fish your Allen wrench out with a magnet.

I do have a magnetic I could use, but this was a really small Allan key and I'm sure its all the way down. If my life depended upon me throwing that damn Allan key into the hole, I'd be dead, but it went in look that was its purpose.:wtf: I'm going to try sticking a camera down there and see what I find. But as long as it won't do any damage, I'm good.

You are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Get the friggen magnet or something and fish it out. Where do you think the hole goes to China?

Get yourself one of these. I have one and it's saved my bacon a time or two, nice to have it handy just in case. The grabber claw end is magnetized.

I have dropped many a tool, nut or bolt down through the engine bay onto the K frame or thereabouts...when you drop something and don't hear that sound of it hitting the floor...

It's metal, use a magnet. I doubt if a vacuum will work any better than compressed air. :BangHead:

A magician could levitate it out. How about bubble gum on a string?
