Hi all

I have a 69 coronet with the 318 V8
4 wheel drums

I heard rattling and grinding from left rear wheel
I pulled the tire off and removed the drum

The adjuster cable was broken and the spring and clip
assembly were rolling around in the drum

I purchased a replacement and it doesn't fit
When I try to stretch out the spring,
the star wheel lock lever will not lock the star wheel since the
cable seems too short
These are Napa parts
Am kinda stumped.....I thought this would be a quick fix

Am I installing this wrong?

No idea, but there are "somewhat" drawings in the shop manuals which you can download at MyMopar, and if you think the other side is correct, it's simply a mirror image.

Could Napa of sold you 10" drum brake parts and you have 11" drum brakes, or vice versa.

Should be 10's on a 318.

The biggest problem is "napa" parts (napa stands for "Never American Parts Available"....
A 318 car has 10" x 2 1/2" both Front & Rear.... Did they give you 10" Hardware or 11" Hardware ---
they are VERY Different.....
I have Everything BRAND NEW -- American Made -- and absolutely CORRECT.....
---------- And ++ Asbestos ++ Brake Shoes !!!!!!!!!!!
You can call me -- Craig -- 516 - 485 - 1935.... New York -- Home of the Victorious NEW YORK METS!!!!!!!

It should look like this

Craig,

Where did u get your American parts?

I am missing the bottom spring that goes from the front shoe to the bottom of the cable adjuster

Thx

Mark

Where did I get my American made parts, you ask? I have been doing this for 45 years now, and have bought out more than 10,000 places -- from private individuals
to out of business stores to warehouses --- to factories (I closed out the last Kelsey - Hayes distributor in the winter of 1994 -- drove a box truck up to outside of Toronto
(yes - that is Canada, eh?) etc. etc.)
I am not one of these johnny-come-lately -- mail order know - nothing idiots.... that's why smart people call me and don't waste their time with current china made parts stores,
the liars, dirtbags, and thieves on the internet, etc., etc. ----
And, you are always welcome to visit a glorious N.O.S. spread of MOPAR Parts at Chryslers @ Carlisle in Pennsylvania in July (Spots H107 - H108)
and the Mopar Nationals in Columbus, Ohio (quite possibly for the 22nd and final time) in August (Spots S13 - S15)
and see it, touch it, know it, and walk away with it for FREE shipping -- at the show......... Craig......
