The guy in the driver's seat got out ok, but the guy in the passenger's seat looked pretty shaken up.

Dude got 2nd, possible third degree burns on his arm. Not too sure about the safety margin on that one......, but the normal dyno ramp up and RPM measure for that seems to have been greatly exceeded. I'm super sure that I'd not push any engine to that limit without a burn-suit and a plexiglass shield. (woof)

Glad no one was hurt by the explosion, that could have gone really bad.

Guess I got out of it before that point....

I actually seen a different video of the same explosion.
I though this was the same video, but this one seems to be shot with a drone? Didn't know there was a passenger in the truck.
Just seen the driver jump out after the explosion

Just my opinion, but, on a dyno, you run it up and shut down. I personally have never seen someone run it that hard and hold it. These vehicles these days are like a person on steroid, doomed to only last so long if pushed to the limit. I have a friend with a custom car shop and he has a dyno which I have used several times on different cars and running it like that is a sucker's bet. Only a weed whacker is meant to be run wide open that long. Shame on him for putting on a show that caused this tragic accident. Had a fox body with a 302 engine with a pro charger at 6 to 7 pounds. Sold it to a kid that was pushing it to 22 pounds, how long do you think is lasted, not long the way he beat it like that constantly.

Never would I ever put one of my car's on those portable dyno's . At a few car shows I've seen peoples cars have failures .One time a car lost its driveshaft scary almost mowed people down .

whos cleaning up that mess?

Dyno's are for fools.

Watched a vid of a 5.9 on a dyno and it blew the whole top of the motor off. The only thing still attached to the dyno was the bottom half of the block with the crank still laying in it.

what kind of power was it making when it let go?

That was FirePunk, they build wicked Cummins engines and transmissions. It hit 2920hp when it decided to leave earths atmosphere. The video is old, just not sure of how old.

It rpm'd like it ran away. (started sucking oil and running uncontrolled off of that until it blows)

This one didn't blow because he shut off the air in the turbo inlet.
