I guy offered to sell me a clean 68 date coded HP E440 block. However, the block didn't have a vin number on it. He stated that it was because it was a factory replacement block? Could that be true? I want to make sure that he's not trying to pass off a marine block to me. I only ask, because I know that the "E" 440's were supposedly for the '69 models (which I want). Any help/insight would be appreciated folks. Thanks in advance!

Yes "E" is a 1969 block. What are the numbers on the top pad? What are the casting numbers on the side of the block? Casting numbers should be 2536430- for a 66-72 440

Yes, factory replacement blocks have no VIN stamped on them. If you blew a motor under warrantee, that is what the dealer got from Mopar and put in your car to replace your bad one.

I have a complete 69 440 engine that was removed from a 69 six pack car that i am thinking of selling. If this is what you are looking for let me know.
