Anyone have any experience with the 499 rotating assembley from eagle for the b blocks. I have read that the crank doesn't clear the block so the crank has to have the counter weights turned turned down anyways...

If you buy the crank specifically for a Low-deck 361-383-400 combo
the mains & the counter weights "should be" already ground properly
the low deck needs something like 7.125" IIRC or smaller on the counter weights radius...
Less weight/drilling needed to balance the rotating assembly, that way too...
Knife grind also helps in windage effects...
Some clearance grinding in the block bottom of the cylinder for rod clearances too,
depends on what rod you use, H-beam or I-beam, Aluminum etc.
as to how much interference needs to be addressed removed...
The windage tray change & oil pump/pan pick up tube in some cases too...

I ordered the h beam rods.. I figure where I the crank not fitting was a case of the wrong stroker crank. Was probably for an RB block not the b block

on my b block this is where my 440 source hit.

That's not too bad. Nothing a die grinder won't take care of. How do you like the 499? You wouldn't happen to have a pic of after you notched it with the die grinder would you?

I cant find those pictures, mine is a 512, I it runs awesome. very happy !!!

Due to the tolerances back then of casting the block and todays stroker kits, some of the B blocks will need some grinding in area's, but some don't any....go figure. Doesn't matter who's kit you use, it's a crap shoot as to whether YOUR block will need clearancing.

I am running an eagle assembly in mine .It's a .030 over 440 with a 4.250 stroke no clearancing needed.I love the way it runs

An Arab block has more room.

Also, gotta watch grinding near the pick up boss. Guys tend to take too much material off that area. Then when the pick up tube gets over torqued because it doesn't initially clock correctly, the thin area ends up cracking after assembly due to vibration. Air is sucked into the oil system and engine failure is the result.
