Hey guys
I want to make a video explaining all the exterior differences of a early build 69 Road Runner compared to a later build car.
I know about the black door handle push buttons and the round opening around the gas filler neck.

Can you list some other differences I'm not aware of?
About what month did they switch over to what became standard for 1969 cars?
Thank you

Wasnt there a color difference in the textured argent on the grille/ head light bezels, early versus late ?

I have seen both dark and lite color on the grille, headlamp and tail lights. My friend has the dark version, had his car since he was 18.

I think the Kelsey Hayes recall wheels were an early 69 thing as well. Mid year introduction of the A12 cars.
Probably not out of the realm of possibility to have a few black horns sneak through on some early 69 cars before they switched to purple.

Off topic question.
My 69 hemi roadrunner when I took the cover off the Dana 60 has 4.88 gears.
The ring gear has a production date of the same month and year as the car.
Also has a part number on it.
Someone just told me you could order the track pack with a 4.88.
Is that really true?
Fender tag says 4.10 but the fact that it is stamped 10/27/68 on the ring gear and my car is 10/30/68 is quite the weird coincidence if someone changed them.

Not all that weird, if someone put them in when new.. too close for the dates to line up . Wouldn't have time to build the diff and install it on the line IMO.
Don't believe they ever built 4.88 car diffs.

IF that was possible, we'd see factory documentation on what code to use and pricing. We'd see it pop up on things like window stickers. We'd see it on broadcast sheets. We may even see notice of warranty exclusions for such an option as the intended use would not be for typical street use but for 'performance contests sanctioned or not.'

Someone may have meant you could order the gears over the counter at the dealership but that would not be part of the original sale. See the link for PN and other install information.

Kelsey Hayes rims were avail up till sometime first few weeks of Sept 1968
Gone after that

I know of about a handful of cars that were originally equipped with them
1969 GTX hemi 4spd Blue with Blk int
1969 Coronet RT hemi 4spd Green, with blk interior
1969 Charger 500, hemi Auto A4 silver . blue interior
1969 Fury I think was dark blue with blk interior , Best I remember was a 383 car - Not 100% sure on color combo ( been a while )
