Okay, now we are into the intelligent design argument. We can take that all the way back to the Big Bang. Who caused the Big Bang? It sure isn't the god of creation 6,000 years ago as the Bible says. The best number science can give us is the earth is 4.5 billion years old. That is based on physicists that are a lot smarter than me.
Nowadays most Christians that enter debates concede that the big bang happened and evolution is true. You can't have a decent argument and ignore the fossil evidence. That's real. You can touch it. I'll take you to anywhere in the world and you can crack open a rock, look at where it came from, and understand what happened.
I worked with some really smart engineers once and they were ultra-religious. Their argument went like this. The lower forms of life in the fossil record were the first to be swallowed by Noah's flood. The higher life forms weren't buried until later in the flood. REALLY!!! How blind do you have to be to believe that?
BTW I can take you to the drags at Bandimere Speedway in Denver and you can place your hand in a dinosaur footprint. It's right there about a mile from the track. After the ancestral Rockies weathered away it formed sand and the climate and oceans were right for dinosaurs to walk along the beach. That got covered up and fossilized, then the new Rockies uplifted and made that sandstone layers almost vertical in places. That steep ridge made for perfect seating for an event like a drag race. Now that's real proof, not a myth.
