The other day I watched the NHRA 1967 Nationals on YouTube, and sure liked how they had all the stickers of what products and parts were running in their cars! So I went through the Summit catalog and made a list of every single company I had purchased parts from for my engine rebuild and products I currently use. I wrote down all the phone numbers and called em all up for some stickers! They were all happy to oblige, and within a couple of days I was filling my mailbox lol! Now I don't plan on applying them permanently, rather I have ordered a roll of magnetic sheeting and will apply the stickers and cut them out of the magnetic sheet. I though it might be fun to throw a bunch of stuff on the car like a sponsored drag car and that way when I'm done with em on the car, I can put that extra 50hp on the fridge! I have a huge stack of free stickers already with only half of the companies replying so far this week and I am only displaying the big ones I plan on turning into magnets in the pic.... I'm pretty certain I will gain at LEAST 50hp to the rear wheels!!!

That's pretty cool!

I did something similar, I made a sun shade with the companies that either provided parts or services during the rebuild and a bit about the car on one side and then more detail about the car on the other side. Its great to use at the cars shows.

I will probably make one of those too. I have so many stickers that are all sizes I will have plenty for more uses!

Displaying company stickers can get you money from them if you win in the finals. You have to look up what classes and races that each company recognizes and what they pay.

I'm thinking about a clear, rear side window insert with stickers. For the inside of the window.

Did you just call their customer service and ask for stickers?

Yes that's exactly what I was thinking at first! A clear window insert! But I couldn't really think of a good way to do it so then switched it up to the magnet idea

Yeah! And they were just more than happy to send em! And not just one or two! I mean they gave me multiple sizes and quantities! And like I said this is only half of the companies I called that have sent them so far!

and gain 50 lb in that magnetic crap :poke:

When I street raced in the 80's I had both my rear quarter windows "blacked out" with stickers from the parts on my car. FYI- I don't think you can have the magnetic things on your car going down the track. Also, on the "contingency awards", I've never collected one, but I do believe there is a particular minimum size the sticker has to be to get sponsor money.

Thanks! I think I know what I'm doing in my down time now!

Yeah I'm not going to any races with my car, it's just for fun. But these are pretty good size stickers too, they appear to be the same size as I've seen on the exteriors of drag cars, between 6-12 inches

That used to be the thing to do back then, and I've started doing it again with my current car.

Yes. My memories are hanging on the fence in '65 watching Gary O's Defender racing the Thunderbolts and Galaxies. Seeing the contingency and sponsor logos on the cars was as much a part of the whole deal as the speed and smell. Going home and laying in bed unable to sleep with a ringing in the ears meant a successful event. I still love the named cars and company logos. All a part of the nostalgia. Dave

i have a giant drawer filled with stickers from the years of racing.maybe i will cover my current project instead of a paint job.

That's awesome I have a ton off stickers as well

Here are the magnets I made. I haven't truly tested their adhesion capabilities at highway speed, but I will! And will report my findings! I like that I can just take em off if I get tired of looking at them. Or want rearrange their positioning. I dunno...., I wanted to represent my stuff! And I wanted to emulate that drag car look. My girl likes it more than she thought she would, I like it about as much as I thought I would. This is about half of the companies I called replying so far with stickers in the mail. But the 50hp I gained was toooooootalllyy worth it!!! Lol

Mine...

Added weight for sure, in fact it's quite a large stack of magnets! a good 3-5 pounds at least, I'd wager. I got so many stickers by just asking for them and that only like 1/2 of them that I asked stuff of kinda fun and the can be removed :) trade off. and they don't fly off at highway speeds.. so, I got that goin for me,,.. which is nice... Lol..and seriously, at this point if im driving a guzzler like this how concerned am I really about mpg !?
