Hi, still working on a 69 RR with elec probs. I noticed that there was no power to the fuse that says instr next to it. So I looked at the back of the fuse box and the feed line was disconnected. I ran a jumper to it, (switched 12 volts) and now the instrument illuminating lights come on when you turn the key on. And also the tail lights come on dimly. So there must be a wire crossed somewhere. Looks as though the previous owner has worked on it. The instr lights should come on when you turn on the headlites. Well at least I know they work. May just have to get another wiring harness, but I hear it takes awhile. Anyone have a good used one? I will need the under dash wiring harness.

If it's the original and you haven't already checked it look at the bulkhead connector at the firewall, right by the master cylinder. They tend to burn up and can cause all kinds of gremlins.

The dash lights (inst fuse) is a trick. Here's how this works

There are TWO power sources feeding the headlight switch

1....Headlights ONLY is powered from an UNFUSED wire off the black ammeter "welded splice." There's a breaker in the light switch

2...Tail / park AND DASH power comes from the tail fuse, so that circuit has to be working "first"

Dash / dimmer power then comes from the tail fuse, goes through the dimmer control and "comes out" of the dimmer on a TAN wire which then goes down TO the inst fuse.

So the fuse is not hot unless the park or headlights are on, the tail circuit fuse is good, and the dimmer twisted to the left. THEN the inst fuse should be hot, power goes through the fuse, and out to dimmer controlled dash lamps on ORANGE conductors
