I have a slight dilemma. I went to a Saginaw power steering pump and now one of my Derale electric fan motors BARELY clears the new PS pump pulley.

As it sits now there is about a 1/16" clearance if that. My thought is to tap a small dent in the electric motor cover, I only need a little more than an 1/8" and it will be good.

I was wondering it anyone has had one of these motors apart? It looks like a thin steel or aluminum cover, I imagine there are some motor windings and a shaft inside.

It would save me quite a bit of time if I could perform the tap method vs taking the fan assembly and radiator apart.

Ideas/suggestions? Thanks

I filed the fan housing down about 0.040", its aluminum. I still need another 0.063", I am going to take that off the pulley with my machinist and it will be golden!
