hello b bodies only. i have a few questions. which is a better a upgrade a fan with thermal clutch or a electric fan. which one adds the most horsepower.

Neither or these really adds or makes Horsepower,

The Thermal fan uses a few ponies, but as far as Engine Horsepower goes the electric uses no engine horsepower. It uses power from the electrical system, so you would have more usable horsepower by going electric.

But the real questions are :

1 - Race car or Street car ?
2 - What amp Alternator or you using ?
3 - Are you running Electric Ignition ?
4 - Can you afford the added strain on the electrical system and keep the Voltage up and the Ignition strong when the fans are running ?

i like thermal on a street car cause with electric i may not notice when a fuse pops. With proper mantinence you may never break a belt.

I would go Thermal on the street, and I go Flex on my Racers,

Hey it's a Mopar, I always make enough HP to spare a few for the fan.

thanks guy for the answers. it is a street car with a mopar ignition box i do not know what size of Alternator it is. but the thermal is the easiest way to go. thanks again

I always use the viscous fans or the thermostatically controlled clutch fans.

Electric fans are not free and they ultimately DO take engine HP to operate.
