I opted to use a fan clutch because it's quieter than a straight fan assembly. I'm running a five-bladed fan with an RPM-type fan clutch with a shroud. I have yet to drive the car. The fan is approximately 1.5 inches from the radiator—half of the fan is in the shroud. BTW, this is a 440 engine with no AC.
Any ideas if this is going to work? I seriously considered using a fan spacer, but attaching the assembly might not last due to the bulk of the assembly, fan clutch, and spacer. I have never seen an assembly like it on any car. The only other way is to find a fan clutch that's longer. But parts books only show an application. Not any measurement.
