I wonder why all the 66-67's with 383, 440 or 426 engines seem to have the badge located between the wheel opening of fender and the door except for 66 440 models, which have them on the front of the fender.
This seems to apply to 66 base/deluxe, and 500 models and Chargers, as well as all 67 Coronets including R/T, and Charger.
I think it also applies to 66-67 Plymouths, and even later cars such as the 70 Super bee.
At first I thought it was because of the 66 440 side molding, but there's plenty of room in the area the badge would go, and it appears to be the same distance down where it is on the front of the fender, creating the same placement constraints.
On the 66 500, the script "Coronet 500" is in this area also, even though there is plenty of room where it would normally go on a non-500 car.
I'd love to hear the rationale from a design dept employee, but what are the odds of that??
