Hi y’all,

I just recently bought a 1967 w200 dodge power wagon, when I popped the hood I found a slew of different stamps on the engine. What I’ve found online doesn’t make sense since a 383 can’t have 915.

Anyone’s help decoding this would be greatly appreciated.

2468130 is a 383..915 Heads will fit any big block. No doubt by the dates this has been worked over. Not always in a bad way. So it looks to be 383 with better heads. Junk intake and carb.

Welcome aboard xxWLx
Plans for the old work horse??
There should be a pad at the front of pass side block right under the distributor more or less that would say it's a 383.

Yes, but @BeepBeepRR is the easy method, especially if the engine is in the vehicle, could be hard to see numbers

@xxWonderlandxx I had a 68 d200 I put a 383 in it, Truck was great, 383s are a great balance between big block torque, and small block revving.

Why are all you guys guessing when the poster put the blocks casting numbers in his first post? The poster already did the dirty work. Its a 383 casting and thats all it is.

Two barrel carb gives it away. I have NEVER seen a two barrel 440.

Fun fact - there never was a 440 2bbl intake. Now, there was a 413 2bbl intake I as told, so it could be swapped to a 440.

I don't think you can have too much information on an engine.
But you might get TMI on the other questions. :)

There was also an RB 383 engine that used a 2 barrel. I believe it was 1959-1960. It would bolt to a 440 as well, but was never used in that application.

This is the most convoluted thread I've seen in a while. I'm not even gonna post here or get involved..... Oh, Wait!.........................

Doh!

BTW, I have a 383 with '915s, but I put them on it.... Older 383 may come with '516s, a little newer '906s (and many others).

***EDIT*** WELCOME TO THE GROUP!!!!!!!!!!
