Hello, i need some help hooking up my new M&H electric ignition engine wire harness along with help on my Pertronix distributor. Its a 69 RR w/ manual trans & factory tach. I did a search but couldn't find what i needed. My electrical skills are very basic so i need some help trying to figure out what goes where and what needs to get cut out by using the pertronix unit. I'm told i don't need a ballast resistor or ignition box, my harness has hook ups for both these FYI. I need some basic help on what wires go to what (alternator, relay, starter, voltage regulator, tach harness, etc) and how to safely cut out any unused wires/connectors as i don't want them laying around. i tried using the wiring schematic but i'm just lost on that thing. Any help is appreciated.

Car year and Model?

I recently put in a MSD ignition was very simple and came with good directions. Haven't fooled with M&H or Petronix. So the other guys will be more of a help!

OK, first is this harness you bought supposed to be a factory like repop? If so you should be able to simply "hook it up."

What are you using for a diagram? You can download factory shop manuals free at MyMopar:

Basically to hook up the Pertronix, "the easy way" would be to hook up the original coil + wire to the coil + just like it should be. This is going to be the ONLY wire in that harness along the firewall that has a "ring" terminal, it's dark blue.

Then the Pertronix hooks, red to coil + and black to coil NEG.

Lay the harness somewhat in place. The wiring should all fall right in place. if you have the original voltage regulator, the green wire has an eye or fork for the screw terminal. This leaves a single dark blue "quick connect" for the VR ign terminal. Now you should have two more individual "quick connect," a dark blue, and one with a brown and a dark blue. These "were" your ballast wires. Either splice them together, or buy some male terminals (flat blade quick connects) from the parts store and make up a short jumper, they'll plug right in

Here's a shot I stole off the www

From left on the resistor, blue..........right side is blue and brown............VR is green (screw) and right side VR is blue plug

Resistor does not matter left or right

Thanks 440roadrunner! Yes its a repop harness for electric ignition. I understood the Pertronix hook up i was just uncertain on the rest of the connections and what to do with the unused ballast and ignition box wiring.
