Errr. a rant

Have been building rear ends for a lot of years until guys were bringing me the parts that they bought. Sometimes gears were questionable but China made bearings......I won't use them!

Oh, I still play with vintage stuff, a 3rd member here & there, a carb, small projects... Currently finishing up an A/C R134 conversion & got another waiting to get done... But I don't hardly touch late model stuff & the vintage stuff is done with the understanding I take my time, I do it right or not at all & I have a job that requires I be ready to jump on a plane at any time on short notice....

Had a 69 road runner here that I did a lot of stuff on and the guy was getting ancy about how long I had it. I'm 68 and told him I'm in no hurry. He started complaining until he opened and shut the replaced driver's door :D It even reminded me of how they sounded back in the day! Replacing doors with the fenders on isn't exactly easy and this car had been sitting out in the west Texas desert for over 30 years and was a royal pita to work on.....

It's an epidemic... Back in the early 80's the only places carrying low end import parts were Kragens & Grand Auto....

Napa, Car Quest, most all the local auto parts stores carried good quality parts... But certainly allot of DIY types & some shops absolutely price shop & that leads to sales declining at the Napa, Car Quest, most all the local auto parts stores... And Kragens was killing it... So by the late 80's Napa, Car Quest, most all the local auto parts stores started offering import stuff as a cost cutting option but continued to offer the name brand stuff too.... By the mid nineties quite a few name brand manufacturers were moving their operations off shore to be able to compete...... NAFTA didn't help the situation & the NWO trade deals kinda sealed the fate of many US factories.... And as years go by it hasn't gotten better... Well maybe a little in the last couple years but bringing factories back to the US won't improve quality of the product if the workers don't take some pride in what they are doing.... Industry in general for the past 25-30 years has been so focused the short term goal of making the investors happy that they don't see the benefit of long term sales by offering a quality product...
well said, very well said

Buy American, support Americans

it starts with you (whom ever is reading this)

you (whom ever is reading this) have to make an effort
& actually try, it takes more time & a little more effort or $$$
or you will suffer the consequences of buying inferior foreign made junk
then end up with trouble, replacing parts & then bitching & moaning about it
the only person you have to blame is yourself
being cheap &/or lazy
(there's a few foreign made products, that are still OK, but I prefer to by American)

don't be an "I told you so douche"

people are either lazy or just don't give a **** & buy foreign junk
usually price point-shoppers, all to save a couple bucks

OK off my soap box
