I am working on a 6.1 Hemi transplant into a 68 Charger and I'm thinking of using the Evans coolant. Although my project is a few months away from completion, I have a few questions............
1st, I'm wondering if the 6.1 engine management system will play nice with the cooler temps?
2nd, I'm not sure what temperature the 6.1 was designed to run and if it will like the cooler temps.
3rd, I'm wondering if my heater will put out enough heat on cool Wisconsin nights and early mornings to clear the windshield and warm my Bride's knee caps.
I like the idea of zero pressure and the no need for a puke tank.
I like the idea of zero rust and scale in the system.
I like the idea of installing it in a new system that has no water in it to start with.

From what I have been reading, the coolant has been a great success with the warmer states and overheating muscle cars.
Anyone with any experience want to share?

What leads you to believe that the engine temps will run cooler? You temperature should be managed by whatever thermostat is installed. And so your heater also should work as normal. The FAQ on the Evans site doesn't say anything about running cooler. They do include this though:

Q. Will Evans Waterless Coolant cause my engine to run at a higher temperature?

A. No. The operating temperature of the coolant may increase slightly, however the temperature inside the engine will be more consistent.

According to what I've read about the Evans Coolant the temps are up to 30 degrees cooler and the boiling point is way higher since it is waterless. Bigjohnjbmopar has a thread on here about his experience with cooler temps with its use. Others have said even with a 180 thermostat, they don't get up to normal temps until driving the vehicle for a shot time. A friend of mine with a 71 Challenger used to have overheating issues until he switched to Evans coolant. He has no heat problems anymore so there must be something to the cooler engine temps. I thought, like you, that the temperature should be regulated by the thermostat but there must be some effect the waterless stuff has.

I use it in my '83 Mercedes 300D and it works great. No problem with heat either. When I get further into it, the '66 Coronet will get the Evans coolant also.

I had some concerns with the engine management on my 6.1 not playing nice with the coolant temperature differences with the Evans Coolant, I posed some questions to Rick Ehrenberg at Mopar Action Tech and received a link I thought I would share. It is probably biased in favor of norosion but it looks like a quite a bit of testing was involved and raised a few issues that talked me out of the doing the conversion. Here is the link: http://www.norosion.com/evanstest.htm

When things seem too good to be true, Guess what?

Interesting article, a good read. However it would have been better if it was written by a third party, rather than a competitor. And in general, Rick Ehrenberg seems to think logically.

I tried Evans in my Procharged dodge magnum SRT8 and I can confirm some of the issues raised in the link above. The engine management system had some hiccups.
