Exhaust tips

[1969CoronetR/T]

I put a new exhaust system with headers from TTI and my old tips will not fit as they are 2-1/2" diameter and my new exhaust is 3". My old tips are rectangular and was wondering what would be correct for a 1969 Coronet R/T. Oval or rectangle?

Oval are Plymouth, Rectangular are Dodge. These are the factory originals.

PS, the TTI tips have their LOGO engraved in the top side of them. (or at least they used to) I didn't like that, you might not either.

We have 3" exhaust and got the oval tips from Yearone. I bet they would have the rectangle ones too.....

Check these guys out, I got a nice set of stainless steel tips for the 67 ten years ago. They have all styles up to 3 1/2" for the same price as chrome. Nice guys, they are at Carlisle anually and have nice quality American made products.

Just an auto. I spose you got lucky and got the 4 speed? Oh, and don't even tell me it's a Hemi too, that would really be rubbin' it in.


Mine's auto on the column, dark green buckets w/buddy seat, Rallye cluster, AM-FM, PB & PS, 3.55 SG, Quarter Scoops, N96 hood, and a couple other odds and ends. Born late March '69, possibly a "Spring Special" car. Oh, and forgot to mention, it is still an all numbers matching car.


What about yours? Gotta say it looks really fine in the photo.

No, it is a 440 cid with a 727 automatic. My Super Bee is a 383 four speed though. I bought a pair of rectangular tips from a TTI dealer even though they claim the R/T and Super Bee had the oval tips. Would anyone want a set of 2-1/2" rectangular tips are in good condition?

Classic industries have the replacement rectangle tips in 3". They are 304 stainless and they get $139.99 a pair in the catolog I have. Hope this helps. The rectangle is right for the coronet R/T.
