Fan belt size

Hi guys just wondering when i look in my 1969 parts book & the fan belt measurement says 44" is that inside or outside diameter ?

Pretty sure it's inside, just get a 44" belt and call it a day

Most belts are measured by the O,D. Or circumferential diameter. but some are measured by pitch diameter or the angle of the "v" groove the belt operates in x the overall length.....

Bob's correct, od is the belt size.
When measuring for belt size you have to measure Inside diameter of the pulleys. Then use a correction factor for belt width. A common number is to add 1.5 inches
