Fan vs shroud depth

How far is too far and whats not close enough? The first measurement is from the edge of the shroud to the fan the second is from the edge of the blade back.

Looks pretty good to me. I usually shoot for about 1/3 of the blade out of the shroud on the motor side.

Can anyone tell me the depth of the stock shroud on a 1967 22" rad?

I'd like to make a comparison.
