Hey everyone...
As long as I am sitting here in the wee hours, might as well take a moment while things are
quiet (well, everything except the weather (remnants of a hurricane are here!) and my keyboard
(I literally beat keyboards to death; I have hamfisted dozens of 'em to that great computer
junkyard in the sky over the decades) to make some observations....
AND again express my profound gratitude to so many people now!

Pretty amazing how here, just a little over 24 hours after the auction closed, there's only about
a dozen folks left to be heard from at this point. That's pretty darn impressive!
At least three continents, several countries and dozens of states are represented in this.
Incredible....

Even more amazing to me are those who not only chose to donate something for auction - or
bid on one of the items - or instead chose to send me something via PP independently of the auction -
were those who chose to do MULTIPLES of those!

Beyond that, there were those who doubled down on their own items' final price or BECAME their
particular items' high bidder or even ADDED money to whatever the high bid was on their donated
item.
Unreal. So profoundly humbling.....and no, I am not worthy. I know this...

The bible speaks often of the kindness and generosity of "strangers" (ain't no true strangers here on FBBO
though, eh? :) ). It's a character flaw I've personally worked on over the years for sure; life gets so
hectic that most times, it's easier to just keep your head down and keep peddling, not pausing to notice
when a stranger might need our help or just a kind word of encouragement.

We make judgements about others at the drop of a hat in order to justify to ourselves why it's ok to do so....
and I'm as guilty as anyone of doing such things over the decades, too.
Not going out of my way to be mean to anyone - but maybe just not doing anything to help, either.
It's easier still to be that way when life has beat on you, of course - or you've had to endure physical and/or
emotional carnage, self-inflicted or otherwise.

I write one of my long, wordy posts sometimes when I've been presented with a situation in daily life in
which the opportunity to help another presents itself - y'all have seen a lot of that (sorry!).
The reason I do so is that such situations present themselves to me routinely in this life (as they do with
everyone), but I've spent the last several years working on actually recognizing them when they do and
being open to the thought that maybe things aren't as they appear - to shed that awful habit of automatically
shuffling on past another human who may just be in need of a kind word of a stranger....
He does put us in situations to help one another all the time, if we'd only just recognize it when it
happens....

Later, I'll talk to my wife when something like that happens, just to get her take on the events.
She's quite the sounding board, a skeptic by nature - but most often, once presented with the facts of
whatever I've just experienced, she'll get a knowing smile on her face and she'll concur with my post-event
assessment of what happened - and why it happened - and it's an eye-opener to me every time, complete
with proverbial light bulb coming on over my noggin and all. :)

Now...
All of this doesn't mean I've found all this OVERWHELMING support from you all any easier to accept -
I am a typical knuckle-dragging male of the species, old school to the core and quite proud of what I've
not only accomplished over the decades, but what I've overcome to do so - so pride plays a huge part in
my own peculiar swagger through this life, just like most anyone.
Well, my pride has been eroded during this year to the point of not having much of it left, honestly....
If I needed humbling, I reckon that's now a case of "job done".

But just as I was beginning to think my time was finally up, here you all, led by @CudaChick1968 Leanna,
come riding to my rescue! I don't think it's possible to overstate just how life-altering this has all been -
or how incredibly grateful I am - all the while, not really grasping the "why me?" part.
That's ok too, I guess - if I actually expected such generosity, that would be worth worrying over I suppose -
and probably worthy of a public hangin'. :)

Y'all know I often say "I ain't nobody". I don't do that out of false modesty or to be glib; it's a self-checking
mechanism I use to try to keep myself as humble as I can, in part - and the other part being that I actually
don't think I am anybody worth fussing over.
Well, it occurs to me that much like the military, perhaps He has torn me down to basics in order to rebuild
me from what I was to what He ultimately wants me to be?
I know one thing - I ain't done yet and I'm looking forward to seeing how this one ends!

I dunno. Just rambling away in the middle of the night....
Y'all be safe out there and God bless you and yours!
Ed

Good morning everyone :)
Glad to have survived it. As the remains of Laura came rolling through in the middle of the night,
the bottom fell out of the barometer with it - and being a fair-skinned, redheaded boy (hyper sensitive),
that meant a long, rough night. I'm basically a human barometer; that crap overflows my pain bucket,
which stays full anyways....but heck with me, there's bigger fish to fry here:

I know Leanna must have been going through similar yesterday earlier, since she's also famously redheaded
and over across the state where Laura hit before us - and with much stronger intensity.
It must have been quite painful for her, which is why I sort of interjected myself into all this and tried to
help, whether that was the proper thing to do or not...
hope you all understand and will forgive me for that. :)
She's quite an amazing human being and I hope things go great for her business - and life!

Next, I'll begin to embarrass a bunch of you here and tattle on the amazing things you all have been doing
that maybe the others don't know about. :thumbsup:

Ok, let's start with @440+6 :thumbsup:
This guy - wow. Just wow....
Bids $1000 on the 2-year Gold membership from the get-go and even when I try to get him to
"correct" that, refuses and sends me a PP as fast as anyone afterwards.
Astounding....but wait, there's MORE!

When Roger tries to get him set up with the 2 years of Gold, Frank turns it down - and tells @kiwigtx
to give it to me instead! Unbelievable....
Roger complies with Frank's wishes, which makes them both heroes of this here story.
I am not worthy - but I'm very grateful nonetheless, gentlemen! :)

...life gets so
hectic that most times, it's easier to just keep your head down and keep peddling, not pausing to notice
when a stranger might need our help or just a kind word of encouragement.

We make judgements about others at the drop of a hat in order to justify to ourselves why it's ok to do so....
and I'm as guilty as anyone of doing such things over the decades, too.

The above words are certainly true for many of us - they are certainly true for me too, and this is something I have also been trying to work on change how I behave and react.

You speak about how this event is humbling to you. Well, it is to me too. I just retired so our income is now quite limited (not that we struggle to pay bills, but I can't spend money on things like I used to). There are some "superstars" here like @440+6, @CudaChick1968, @Paul Wilson, and I'm sure others I have missed. But the point is that not everyone can donate to that level. However, when many get together and all do a little, it turns into a lot!

So I have to remember that when I seek to donate or assist with something, I don't have to have funds like the Bill Gates Foundation. THAT IS OK! We should pick worthy causes and help a little bit for those. Collectively, when we all do that great things happen.

I hope my ramblings make some sense...

Hawk

Next up is @Paul Wilson !
Y'all, take a gander at the auction list I keep updating in here....
Paul is on there no less than (4) times as a bidder/winner AND (4) times as a donor,
including making those (7) beautiful license plates for folks!!

So....how do you top that, you ask?
You guessed it - he's also sent me something through PP independently of the auctions,
too - not to mention, some truly inspirational encouragement as a sort of "bow on top"!

Finally, even before all of this started and I was pretty down in the dumps and preparing to
sell the GTX off to stave off the bank, out of the blue Paul appears, offering to make me a
plate just like the one on his own GTX - just because I had seen it on here and complimented
him on how nice it was!
When I bluntly was honest with him and said I couldn't afford to pay him right now, he replied
simply with "who said anything about paying me?".
Amazing...this dude has his soul adjusted properly, far as I can tell!

THANK YOU PAUL!

Did I miss anyone? Any errors?
THANK YOU ALL!!
Ed

Wanted to thank Tom(moparsaver)for putting the awesome Plymouth and Dodge signs up for auction. Was very pleased to have won that bid on the Plymouth sign. Thanks again, moparsaver.

Next up on the public embarrassment tour?
All the generous, kind-hearted souls who have sent me something through PP
independently of the auction - just because they felt the need.
I thought "Good Lord :eek:...!!"

I started getting these out of the blue once Leanna started this whole auction thing.
Never saw it coming, didn't even occur to me that anyone would want to do such a
thing...
Well, they did. A LOT of them did. Had me all blubbery almost daily.
So, the least I can do is tell all of YOU about them!
Here we go:
@Dennis H - (he's not gonna like this :))
@BDF6 - Brent
@Wojo68 - Henry
@71dodgechargerrt - Tom
@coloradodave - Dave
@copper67sat - Robert
@r4sedan - Larry
@Durandal25 - Saxon
@68sprtsat383 - Joe
@davek - Dave
@Cranky - DJ!
@Ladysmith Bob - Bob
@Mike67 - Mike
@Joske2 - Luc
@Ironbuilt - Paul!
@hemi*guy - Guy
Dana Price - Dana "The Trim Master in OR"
@Officer Higgins - Dan
@Kern Dog - Greg
@moparwacko - Jim
@Jerry Hall - Jerry
@Beekeeper - Scott
Brad Kennerson
Margaret Peterson

Now, that to me is one AMAZING list! See any that surprise you?
MORE IMPORTANTLY - if I have omitted anyone, PLEASE bring it to my attention right away so I can
correct it. Further, if you're one of these folks and you DIDN'T want me to put you "up here in lights",
let me know that also pronto and I'll get it edited.

It's amazing to me how many of these folks I don't even "know", yet they felt moved to help.
That is absolutely gutting....and yet another reason to thank @CudaChick1968 Leanna, because they
found out about me through her!

God surely could better use His Grace on more deserving folks, no doubt....but I'll take it, too. :)
God bless all of you and THANK YOU!!!
Ed
