FBBO member RJRENTON "Bob" has passed away.

I kinda remember Bob saying he had a six barrel car. But don't ever remember him posting any pics. It is a very nice car.

Rest in peace Bob, you will be missed. I just saw this today and it really saddened me.

Thanks for sharing his PM from September. I work in a technical field as well and those two lines he signed off with are 100% true.

I wouldn't normally do this ...but Bob was such a nice guy, I'm sure he would be OK with me sharing our last exchange.....

I won't forget you Bob..... you have etched a great set of memories in my mind.

You've got a very warped, cold way of looking at the world.
. deleted out of respect for Bob.

The real disrespect shown here is by all the hypocritical comments here for mainly admitted self-serving reasons after his passing that were seldom if ever shown when he was posting here, and actually often he was belittled, and now maybe for guilt many want to now praise the man?
I am called "warped', "bullshit", "cold', etc and I am censored when I reply without vulgarity, all so some can find solace in their bubble of bliss?
I realize noting the "emperor has clothes" has a price, I am willing to pay it and I suspect Bob, if he is/was what truly what some now suggest he was, he would be proud for anyone to be honest in the face of such opposition, even if some find my directness "callous".
Truth sometimes hurts, respect Bob by learning from it, but I might be wrong.

I haven't kept track of who belittled him and now have nice things to say, but it occurred to me when the thread started there are probably a bunch. You may or may not have noticed I've not said any of the usual things about him on this thread, because the last interaction with the man was contentious to say the least and maybe you and I agree because I won't say something nice about a person who has passed if I wasn't saying it when they were alive. I do feel bad for those who will miss him tho.

Where we don't agree is who the hell am I or who the hell are you to tell people how to react after someone has passed? Its called reading the room, this seems to be what some people need so leave them to it. If you expected walking in to a room (figuratively) to tell everyone what they are doing is wrong or hypocritical would be met with positive responses then you are a fool. If it makes you feel better if there is ever a RIP thread for you (and hopefully that is wayyyyyy down the road, I have no ill wishes) I'll make sure to interrupt the kind words by pointing out you were a fool and that you want the honesty :p

Man , I just uncovered the work rock I was hiding underneath - Sorry to hear this , Bob was definitely entertaining, in a good and bad way at times , worse with some - He definetly loved his ignition and carb threads - He was definitely knowledgeable , and at times he would let everyone know that , in his own words - MY OPINION OF COURSE

God Bless Him And His Family
Prayers Sent

Your "directness" is callous. It's also disrespectful. You are also mistaken, and as OneWheelPeel has stated, as you appear to have very limited skills in understanding this social environment.

Bob copped a lot for sure, but the vast majority was "piss taking", look it up if you don't understand what it means. You need to understand that Bob knew he was stirring things up in his posts, and we also knew we were stirring him up in our responses. But there was very little hatred of Bob by members of this site, despite him getting somewhat cantankerous in his final months. This is evident by the 7 pages of messages, and the thought that went behind the words that people wrote.

I personally have thought you are a real "piece of work" yet when you posted about your recent illness I was kind and offered you support. That's how things work with empathetic, normal folk. We may disagree about many things, but those things are insignificant when there is a health/family issue, and the members of the site pull together in support.

Thank you ....very well said.

Time for this to go to lock up I presume. Bob and I, both as Electro- Mechanical Engineers butted head more than a 100 times and I told him where his pinky ring could go more than a dozen times.... but we never got nasty about it. He basically ignored me, as he suspected I was correct I presume.

Would I wish him ill will, never. Nobody, well other than my Mother in Law, deserves to die.

I have no idea why he passed, but his last year or so follows the typical path of a brain tumor patient. I watched it in my own Daughter, Dave Waldon of ECS and others.... and would wish it on nobody if that was Bob's case. Or maybe he was just the narcistic Engineer that was always right. I've met more than my share and why I declined my original fresh out of school job offering at Spar Aerospace. Project lead was just someone I'd have been butting heads with until I left, so I never started.
