FBBO SCREWED ME AGAIN

Times have changed. Speaking as an aging boomer, we took a good deal of ribbing and a little smacking by the teachers - some had it coming (including me liking to be a smart *** when I could). They got their moods like anyone else. One time with a cranky teacher, I made the mistake of asking him if his wife burned his eggs that morning...oh it was an unwise comment as he smiled (I think he actually thought it was comical) before he walked over to my desk. With one super hairy large arm he 'escorted' me to the chalkboard to write 100 times on it a phrase about respecting my elders...
Was this recently, or back in high school?

LOL - I recall it was the 6th grade - Mr. Reinholz - actually a great guy and thought I could get away with my comment as he was usually in a good mood, very even-tempered sort, again, my goof...ya just don't go there as a puny young-un when teach (or ma or pa) is having a bad day. Ahh - da stories I could tell getting my dear old mother peeved at the worst time! I was a gluten for punishment! I'm sure I'm in no way alone.

Nope...I'd get a smack by the teacher as she's taking me to the principle's office. The principal bends me over his desk and gives me a wack with his paddle, sends me home with a note. Give the note to my mom and she gives me a spanking. Dad gets home and finds out what happened and he gives me another spanking. That's a long painful day for a kid.

Yeah - I wasn't a quick study to stay out of trouble. In HS, having decent penmanship, I took on a side job of creating counterfeit notes for some classmates to get out of school early or for absences for a nominal service charge. It didn't last long before I was snagged as the gossip spread getting more 'clients'. A goody-two-shoes turned me in. When I heard my name announced on the PA system to report to the office I became light-headed knowing why I was being called...

thread went array...In 6th grade 1959 I was spanked by the principal for hitting stones in the playground with a bat.
I ended up in the hospital with a broken back, he spanked my back instead of my ***.......my dad was going to kill him. I have suffered ever since.

My apologies; I hijacked your thread - I have a habit going off the rails remembering something that's sort of related to the topic. Sorry to hear about your back. Reckon your dad had a few words with the prince anyway including paying your medical bills..

I can guarantee that if you type something up here and leave the keyboard for around 10 seconds, that the "Draft Saved" icon will appear on the bottom right of the page you are working on.

See...just above "More Options"

Back in my time between Wives, I was on a few dating sites. I corresponded with a decent amount of prospective Mrs Kern Dogs.
It was always annoying when I would peck out a long, detailed and (In my opinion) funny/witty message only to see it disappear at some point. Back then I was just starting to use the internet and computers. I'm no expert now but back then, I'd make a mistake and have NO clue what went wrong or how to correct it.
It sucks but in my case, it was always my fault.

That was actually God telling you to stay off those awful sites.... :)
"I like long walks on deserted beaches...and sunsets!"

Some of what the OP is talking about boils down to the "architecture" of the website itself and how it functions,
methinks.
I used to do a lot of freelance website creation many, many moons ago (taught myself html) and I stopped doing
so with the advent of what was called "php" or "php-nuke" language.
It was revolutionary in comparison to tired old html, sure, but with it came all manner of restrictions in the way
you could lay out sites and on how they had to function, something I had been used to controlling myself.
I liked simple - but todays' sites are light years more complicated than anything I played with and I wasn't
that damn interested in things to keep up, since it was something I just played with for fun.

It's their toy - you just have to learn how to play with it. :)

Hey...how'd THAT get there? :D

Yea, the damn thing is always blocking what I'm typing and I have to wait for it to disappear so I can see what I typed.

I still feel the pain and mostly embarrassment when my grade 6 French teacher lifted me off my chair...by my hair. What a bitch.

I've posted enough on my school trouble days here; but have several episodes...doing a burnout in front of HS as a junior with my recently purchased 67 GTO after a bunch of classmates egged me on. Well go figure, just as I lit 'em the assist VP 'meatball' was his nickname, came out the doors! He reminded me of Curly from the 3-stooges and you could have some fun with him; but most knew never to **** with him. He was strong as a bear. Next day he caught up to me in a hall btw classes with his evil looking smile..."Was that you yesterday racing your car? No need to answer, I know it was". He kept getting closer and closer as I started to step back, not fast enough as he backhanded me in the chest a few times (one of his favorite send the message along routines). "Assure me you will never do that again or you won't be driving to school anymore." as he kept rapping me. I got off lucky as he could a come down a lot harder (and fortunately didn't see a few other stunts I pulled earlier). Overall he was a fair guy who enjoyed joking around with the kids; but those who didn't heed his advice...once it was delivered, regretted it. lol
