FCA to merge with GM!?

That rumor has been around for a several months. Buying Chrysler was a foot in the door for Fiat to sell their uninspiring cars here, but they haven't exactly taken off. (Gee, I wonder why?) A sell off of Chrysler may be what Fiat wants, but I can't imagine why GM would want to buy Chrysler other than to eliminate them, and that's an expensive way to do it. Jeep is viable, but other than the Charger & Challenger, the rest of Chrysler's product line is nothing great.

Jeep is the only thing, worth anything. Same went with the Germans. They wanted the cash and Jeep............nothing more.

GM has owned Jeep once before and almost destroyed it as everyone else has that has owned it. How it prospers at Chrysler I have no idea.

The cultures are so different. Even worse than the Germans when they owned Chrysler! At least the Italians saved Chrysler from doom. Now they are profitable but development resources are limited.

At least FCA is a car company..The previous owners were investors, Cerberus Capital. But GM wouldn't buy Chrysler just to kill it, nor would they buy it for corporate reasons, there are too many similar product lines involved.

GM would take them for a bargin but the plants just need new models, this FCA company is doing pretty well they just need 4-5 new models and things will continue to improve.

Quality is the worst in the US. Only jeep and the charger/challenger models have any loyalty. Ram trucks are doing okay. No compelling reason for GM to buy them unless it was to shut them down. Probably wouldn't pass regulatory though.
