Being this the most notorious Mexican celebration in the US let me say this, NO!!! we do not celebrate our independence from Spain that day is September 16, today, we celebrate the commemoration of the battle of Puebla, we win the battle, lost the war, the french impose us an emperor and we sent him back dead in a small coffin along with his crazy wife, those who have been in Mexico city may remember our most famous avenue, paseo de la reforma, this avenue is a legacy from this period was ordered by Carlota of Hasburg to see his husband leave from the castle of chapultepec during the empire.
