I need seven of the 5/16"-18 nuts with the built in LARGE (over 1" dia) free spinning washers that were used on the back part of Mopar car fenders to fasten them to studs on the inner structure. I don't know what years they used these, just that they were used on a number of different car models in the 70's, such as B-bodies and E-bodies. If anyone has a set of these that were taken off of a parts car they could part with for a reasonable price please let me know. On my '73RR they used a total of eight, and I have one good one.

Thanks.

I have 6 @ 1 1/4"
2 @ 1 1/8"
8 @ 1"
If you're interested in these PM me.

If you haven't been able to find any used ones, maybe the ones at the link from PartsMix below are what you need.

Yes, I spotted those on eBay, only at the $12.49 for 2 nuts price which seemed nuts itself. The discount $7.95/2 price is a little more digestible, but by the time you buy 8 of them (4 pairs) plus add shipping you end up with about $40 just for nuts. AMK has them for $2 each, but the catch with them is they have a $30 minimum order and a $10 minimum shipping requirement so once again you end up with about $40 in the nut project. AMK does look like a good source for other Mopar hard to find hardware, however, if you need enough to meet their minimum requirement.

Napa has them and the bolts new. My body guy gets them from his local store.

The Chrysler nuts had larger washers attached to them than you can find in the generic body bolt selections from Dorman or Auveco, which I think is what you're referring to that parts stores can get. I looked and looked from these sources as well as from Fastenal, McMaster Carr, etc. and the largest washered 5/16-18 nuts are just 3/4" diameter; the Chrysler ones were more like 1 1/8" diameter. You really need the larger washers to span the distance they go across, which is close to 1".

Right now I'm using plain grade 2 nuts and fender washers. This doesn't work very well because for one thing generic grade 2 (non-hardened) fender washers are so thin they bend out of shape when you tighten the nuts down across the openings they span which doesn't offer much clamping force, not to mention looks terrible. You pretty much have to double or triple them up for them to do any good. The Chrysler washered nuts on the other hand have much thicker washers attached to them, and they might be hardened because they are very strong.

Most guys don't have the time to dig through hardware for just a few bucks like Rat Rod Al did for you.
I saw this post several times and was out in the shop today.
My hardware is pretty well sorted so I took a look.
I have 7 of the 5/16-18 nuts with 1 1/4" washers and an extra just in case for $15.00 shipped to you.
Start a conversation with your zip if interested in the right parts for your project.
