filler neck

On a 74 Charger does the filler neck go up to the detent and gasket or does the detent go throught the gasket? Thanks

Hi, I have a 1973 Charger and I followed the service manual. It said after installing the tank, you would lubricant the grommet with a petroleum jelly then side the filler tube into the tank, and secure tube with screw, tighten securely. Where ever the tube ends up is the only place it will be.
