I did a couple of funeral details while in the Army. My first, also first for everyone else, we practiced for a week straight. Well when the funeral day came for Veteran, we were the detail.
Everything went PERFECT up until we were to exit the coffin after setting it down. Right face was called, those on one side turned right, the opposite side also turned right. So we all walked the opposite directions, looked absolutely correct, but was totally wrong. I forget the command that should’ve been given for us all to walk the same direction, but for those that didn’t no how a Military funeral was supposed to go, we did a damn fine job. The flag folding was flawless and given to the widow.
