The value of advice here is priceless! I dig for answers when possible but maybe this one isn't a common question? Has anyone perfected (?) a DIY process at home to restore their rear trim panel between the tail lights? Outside of the black and red stripes is there something that can bedone to put the lustre back into that aluminum panel. Also, was there a specific gloss or no gloss with regard to the red and black stripes? Mine are so faded, I couldn't tell what they looked like originally.

They are tricky
outer edge is polished
center area is a brushed finish

I used to have an nos one ( And I put it on my car LOOOOOONG time ago ) Car is long gone

red is a semi gloss
black is flat black

To add to the complexity, if it's like the taillight finish panel on a '70 Charger, those are bright-anodized before painting the semi-gloss black parts. And anodizing that's faded can't really be re-polished, it has to be chemically stripped before re-polishing (and re-anodizing, if desired, to preserve the polished finish). Trying to sand off the anodizing will not be fun.
