For the train guys: UP Challenger 3985

Hello FBBO!

The Union Pacific has donated several locomotives and rail cars to the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America (or RRHMA). The donation includes:
- Challenger 4-6-6-4 No. 3985
- Santa Fe type or TTT 2-10-2 No. 5511
- EMD Centennial DDA40X No. 6936
- E9B
- 4 coaches
- 2 business cars.

The people at RRHMA plan to restore all the locomotives starting with the Challenger. It's pretty exciting that another steam locomotive will be brought back to life. If interested check out these websites:

Yeah, two years ago Union Pacific 4014 came through Chicago's Western suburbs and
I took my 16 yr old Grandson to see it. Shook the whole area! He's a U.P. fan, and wants
to be an Engineer. Beautiful restoration on You Tube. Big Boys & Challengers, What a
great design.

I worked on little emd switchers for awhile, my dad ran for 36 years.. I wish I could go out on the line but I’m totally color blind and that’s a no no.. but I will say I really appreciate you sharing the info! I look forward to see the challenger on the rails! Something about riding the rails it’s great! History!

We too watched the 4014 come in a few years ago.....it was fantastic.
Getting a 4-6-6-4 added to the museum is very kool.. I have never seen a 2-10-2.

3985 will be in addition to the 3984 currently running consists for the UP line. Great that these old beasts are back to generating revenue as they did in their beginning. As a Foamer Train Buff they are really cool to see and hear!!! cr8crshr/Bill
