This guy's cars never did anything for me. His style was fabricating what could be a good looking classic street rod and transforming into something very plain and blah, as this example shows......

This was my favorite of Boyds cars, Cadzilla, but he was not the designer. He did design some really cool wheels when CNC machines became popular. But watching his show, he seemed like a total A hole to work for.

His foreman, that dude needed a serious *** beating!

Him and chip foose. How much unnecessary billet can we put on a car, and let’s not just put a bunch of billet, let’s make it look as ridiculous as possible!

Chip Foose designed that car... when he worked for Boyd

they did a couple of cars I liked

that 'American HotRod' show, (where they built that Alumatub) ruined it for me...
Foose was long gone by then too

remember it was the 90's a lot of monochromatic crap
& billet was in vogue

he also did a 34 Ford roadster Dragcar for the Halibrand family
with a FI 392 Hemi IIRC was pretty damn cool

don't remember who his shop built this for
but I liked it (other than pis yellow, I don't care for any yellows)

Boyd's Shop Foreman,
Duane was a real piece of work

here's another of Boyd's shop creations
for that era it was cool

Junkyard Dog (Bob Johnson's car, I liked it 572 powered IIRC)
(the guy who works for Jay Leno was fired while building this car)

For me, Boyd was wheels and that's it. I, too, never cared for his car builds, but that's just my opinion.
There's a reason why all his best guys left! Constantly berating the guys that make your money is not cool.
As far as Foose goes, like his stuff or not, he's a super nice guy unlike the late Boyd. I met Chip at our Aurorama years back, and when he asked me "what kind of stuff are you into" and I said "well, these customs are awesome but I'm more of a Mopar muscle-years guy" he talked to me for 20 minutes about all things classic Mopar.

Sold for 96 large. The selling price reflects that car's desirability. I'm sure the car cost a lot more than that to build.

I remember Chip Foose being at a car show in Toronto about 10 years ago. People were lined up to get his autograph. He stayed until everyone that wanted an autograph got one. Chatted with people. Nice guy.
