I have a 73 340 rallye charger that I am restoring. My question is, were the front and rear bumper fillers painted to match the car, or were they all molded grey? I noticed on an SE the other day that his were grey with the chrome trim around the fillers, which is only for the SE trim. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to get new ones or paint the ones I have, if they are suppose to be painted. Any help would be appreciated. I added a couple pics to see the area.

My 74 charger SE had grey/silver ones on it. I think the rallye chargers are the same. I have seen them painted body color. I think it’s preference on what you want, but I think grey/silver is the correct way.

BTW be very careful on removing them. They could be very brittle. I soaked mine in brake fluid to get the old paint off, and then washed them with Palmolive. “It softens you hand while you wash the car”.

bumper fillers ,painted or body color

:headbang:I have a 73 rallye as well FE5 with white top and white guts .My fender fillers are silver i have went to my paint and body supply they gave me the stuff to clean them then neutralize the moulded filler and then paint to match i have 3 sets and there is a guy on ebay who makes the front and rear fillers the long pieces .he has made a complete kit and i think his price was 360.00 for both sets but don't quote me on that .his user name is moparmuscle73 ......his workmanship is spot on and if i had the money i would by the both complete sets without playing with my originals but hey that is the fun of restoring an old MOPAR.....I would not trade it for anything ...period.....

My 74 is a base coupe and the fillers are gray and still soft. I need to clean them up and find something to keep them soft.

I have the rear bumper ends and the center if needed PM me

we need to clear a liitle bit some

THESE CARS got TWO pieces on that area. One are the moldings attached to body ( pot metal CORNERS reproed and sold by PGclassic, BEA, not SS centers thought ), and the RUBBER filler attached TO BUMPERS

the rubber filler is part of the car no matter the package, installed due the larger cap required by federal regulations, between body and bumpers. NOBODY IS OFFIALLY REPRODUCING THESE, although there is a friend who made some front centers and some corners ( front and rear ) as an experiment. Quite often he put on ebay the front centers... 73moparmuscle

the moldings are part of the packages on SEs and maybe optioned on some others. Not every Charger got it
