Front end alignment 67 b body

So ive called a few places here in Killeen tx to see if they have the expertise to properly align the front end of my plymouth but I have not felt a warm and fuzzy feeling. the first response is "yeah we can do it" then I ask if they have done one before most say no "but it shouldn't be a poblem" I guess my poblem is I have had my car at one of these "yeah we can do it" places but it still wasn't right. The reason for needing an alignment is because i replaced all of the front end ball joints, tierods ect..any sugestions or thoughts?
 
I,d check for restoration shops in your area and give them a call to see who they reccomend. Dont know if you have Strouhauls up there but in the houston area they are the best around. Everything fron passenger cars to semis.
 
Alignment is not rocket science on these cars.....Cam bolts, tie rods, strut rods, height adjustment....walla.
Print off the factory specs and any shop that does the alignment should be able to easily align your car. There is lot of cars out there that require much more in depth work/measurements to accomplish a straight line.
 
You need to seek out a more "industrial" type shop that does trucks and such. Stay AWAY from tire stores. They will always charge you more for an "old" car, when they are quite easy to align. Try and find a shop that does alignment and suspension work primarily....and does NOT sell tires. Preferrably one that has a been in the area a long time.
 
AND, make sure the price includes adjusting the toe. Pep-boys wanted to charge $20 extra for that. It was an emergency repair on the road, and I had no choice but to do it.

This has been discussed at length. The overwhelming opinion is "don't" use factory specs on modern radial tires. It is important to note that with modern radials, you want a lot more caster, AND instead of factory POSITIVE camber (tops of tires point out) with radials you want NEGATIVE camber (tops of tires point in)

You'll have to excuse me..obviously I haven't been part of every conversation on here...But I do appreciate the link, great info.
 
I have to agree with Rustyratrod. Go to a good shop not a tire store that does trucks. As a front end guy myself that learned in a frame shop go to a place that knows how cam bolts work to set camber and caster.

You will find few shops able to do a 67 B body-at least that was my experience. A laser device will not mount on the rear wheels-the wheel opening shape precludes their use. It has to be mounted sideways, which makes things interesting for the tech. Good luck.
