Front end keeps lowering itself

Shock absorbers do not support the vehicle, they merely slow down the movement of the suspension.
Torsion bars may have lost their resistance/Temper. The adjusters may have also worn to the point where the screws/bolts back out. Both are easy to remedy. The adjusters can be swapped from another control arm and the torsion bars are readily available.
Maybe you should think about a stuck shock? Before making your statement....

Furthermore, I am not sure what "torsion" bars he has and the engine application.....He could have small bars and a complete 440/hemi in his car....

Also, did they adjusts the bars properly....or did they screw the adjusters with the car on the ground with full front end weight......stripping them.....

I don't know we have limited information to go on and no current updates...

If a shock was seized, it would not move.
Sometimes they will move in one direction but not the other. It's easier for the vehicle to compress one that's stiff and then it stays there but according to the OP, that's not the problem anyways.

My statement was accurate. Shocks are not designed to support a vehicle. They dampen the movement of the suspension. "Air shocks" are a different thing, of course.
Shocks that are defective are a different thing as well.

Lol.......no one said your statement was inaccurate but you stated mine was. However you have no answer for a shock that could be stuck......which will limit travel and the height where one or both may be stuck....

I have only seen a defective shock like you describe one time...It had a bent shaft and was slow to move through its range of travel. Sorry, I often dismiss an unusual symptom or cause such as this when looking for a reason for the problem. Sure, cars can be fickle creations that really test your knowledge and diagnosing ability!

And that is why you don't exclude something.....one must factor in all componets involved......

I'm curious about the set up... worn out s6 bars w/ a big block???? Stripped adjusters???

Hello everyone. So I have a question for those that are familiar with b-body front suspensions.
Ok so the deal is my sons and I have a 62 plymouth savoy that is our project car. We have a stock front suspension just new bushings and ball joints. The problem is we raise the front end of the car up via the torsion bar adjusters to the height we like (27 inches from the bottom of the tire to the lip of the fender) but after driving the car around for a bit the front end lowers itself while we drive. We find this annoying because we have to keep raising it up and we also have a deep oil pan that gets close to the ground because it keeps lowering while we drive.

Any input would be great thanks!
Any update to your issue? I am curious since this is a odd thing to happen to a Mopar suspension. I've heard of the adjusters stripping the threads and releasing the tension but that is a one time thing that you can't fix without replacing the adjuster.

This same thing happened on my 73 duster the adjustment bolts kept backing off ! I grabbed another set and car was perfect minus being an a body and full of rust and missing a paint job and........

Man, with all the pressure that's on the adjusters, it's weird that they could back off any! Strange stuff keeps on keeping on though so it doesn't surprise me. I wonder if something like Loctite blue would do the trick for stuff like that? I know red would :D
