Can anyone let me know if the frame rails between 71 ebody and bbody are same

Thanks

Edit: whoops, should have looked at the part. I thought you meant the inner fenders where the hood hinges go. I want to say that part you listed is the same, but have never seen them listed for both cars. They 'should' be the same (see below) but I think there are small differences. I would think they could be made to work, but I've never compared them side-by-side.

The lower firewall is the same too. The upper cowl panel (base of windshield) is very close, but differs from the e-bodies at the pass side, near the hinge corner.

For the most part, e-body and b-bodies are the exact same from the radiator support back to the rear of the front floor pans, and up to the base of the windshields.

Thanks for the reply.

Would the hinges from the charger interfere with the upper cowl? Because I was thinking of swapping that out also if possible.

Would the grills be able to mount onto the upper cowl without modification? The screw in type.

run away, run away......I used the 70-74 E body Outer and inner cowl side hinge panels from AMD on my 72 GTX. I jokingly said run away because if your that far into the car and chasing rust like I was you might be better to cut and run and find a better car to start with. My long and expensive jorney is getting closer to paint but I wouldnt go that deep into restoration again. photo 2 (66).jpgphoto (62)d.jpgimage.jpg606.jpgmoney.jpgphoto 4 (2).jpg

The inner fenders (side panels where the hood hinges mount) are exactly the same from B to E body, so there will be no issues.

The cowl difference between E and B bodies is shown below:

If you look really closely, just behind the hood hinges on the cowl, you see that it dips down just behind the hinges. On the E-body, that angle goes straight across to the end.

Far as I know, that's the only difference. I don't know if there is a clearance issue with b-body hinges that required this indent or not, but it seems odd to me.

Rob,

Did the e-body hinge panel work for you without too much issue?

Also E and 71-3B A/C firewalls are the same. Non-A/C are not. Also 74B firewall is different than 71-3B.
B and E top cowl plates are quite different. The well vent holes are different shape and take different screens.
Rob, I too am interested as to how well the E body hinge jam worked on your B body. Comparing originals I found then to be quite different. The spacing for the hinge bolts to be one thing. Also the size of the panels them selves.

I didnt order the firewall side panel thats why I was asking here first :)

As for the firewall Non A/C it seems to be the same except for where the heater box blower motor and the heater core pipes go through. But I will let you know soon enough how the firewall goes Non A/C. Going to pick it up soon.

I wont be running away from the car :) if i dont replace the firewall side panels then i'll just patch them. The rust isnt that severe. I have almost everything I need for the vehicle sheet metal wise.

My cowl is fixable but installing a new one would of been easier.

attached is my firewall and challenger non a/c firewall
