Like most '62-'65 B bodies, my '65 Coronet was not originally equipped with a sway bar. Anybody install an aftermarket unit? What brand? Installation issues? Is it worth it?

i put a 1 1/8" firmfeel on the front of my 65 coronet. major improvement in handling. money well spent.

I wonder if one from a 68 or 69 b body would work, if you had the lower control arms to go with it? just a thought.

It'll work just fine with your lower control arms. You will need to get a sway bar that didn't come stock, in other words, the sway bar will attach to the shock bolt location. Just suspension has what you'll need, just tell them that your car didn't come with a sway bar as standard equipment and your golden.

No, can't do it. Later 'B' sway bars went through the K-frame. The early 'B' sway bar went around the front. Unless you swap the later K-frame in (whole 'nuther can-o-worms!!!) it won't work.

Locate the correct factory piece (good luck) or go aftermarket.

My 68 k frame is in my 64 dodge and the sway bar goes around the k frame, not thru it, but my dads 70 challenger has the sway bar going thru it. My buddies 68 super bee is the same as my 68 charger k frame, so I think your mistaken.

To clarify this, maybe some members on here could post a pic of their 64-65 k frame with a sway bar that is factory, this would clear up our "discussion".

Sorry for the confusion, I've been wrong before.
All I know is that at one time I ripped an entire front end out of a '68RR parts car to use the K in '65. The sway bar went through the frame (I still have it) but the K created all sorts of engine/trans fitment issues (engine sits back approx 2" more than early B's).

You can use either sway bar, thru the k or around it. The lower control arms have the end link mounting point at different locations. I had to cut off dads end link on his factory lower control arm (70 challenger r/t) cause the arm was bent, and re-weld to another arm off a b-body. Mine end link location is where the shock bolt goes thru, and my dads was more towards bump stop almost directly below it.

Found this: Notice the 'hangers' at the front of the k-frame and the bar ends are clamped to the strut rods. They're not attached to the lower control arms at all.

Wow!! I just learned something.

For those searching salvage yards: The typical 1966 B-body factory front swaybar matches the photo above, so it should bolt right onto our '65-and-older B-Bodies too.

I think the swaybars mounting to LCA's with integral swaybar tabs didn't start until '67.

Thanks, -Art

Learn something every day. Took these pics of my '64 Polara which has a factory installed sway bar. Hope these help.

Summit Racing lists front and rear sway bars for early B-bodies,in their own Summit brand.I have not used them, just noticed them listed.

I don't think that the Summit sway bar attaches like the original as pictured above. In my particular case, I need one like an original becaule I need to go in front of the K member (I have a hemi style skid plate) and there are no link holes in my stock lower control arms.

I am also looking for the original sway bar set up for a 1964 Dodge.
Good information posted.

I see one listed on ebag. For the starting price though (over $400.00 shipped) I believe that I am better off getting later lower control arms and using a new sway bar for a late 60's B body. Fit perfectly, cheaper, better, and easier to get.

Hmmmmmmmmm don't like the idea of mounting to the Radius rods....

'66 Satellite sway bar

I have the original front sway bar that I took off of my Satellite, if anyone is interested. It just need a couple of rubber bushings. Thanks, 383MV

I don't think anyone makes a reproduction anti-sway bar for the early B-body cars. But you can bolt on the B2 style without too much work. www.firmfeel.com is a good place to work with for that.

I had some pictures in my B-body book on the subject and provided a list of sources for parts. You can get the book from Amazon for less than $20 and it will answer a bunch of questions like this.

On my '65 Coronet I went with an aftermarket bar that was attached to the strut rods. I did it this way so I could clear a wider tire.
