Got a question for ya'll, I'm converting my 72 satellite from a 318 to a 440. What size front torsion bars should I use to handle the added weight and Hp? Also will I need to replace the cross member right under the fire wall to accommodate the bigger bars.

Thanks in advance Rooster.

.920 torsion bars work great with a 440 motor, the car will handle better with the .920 bars too. Improved suspension performance and increase cornering ability with these torsion bars. Just change the bars, no modification needed.

Will the .920's fit without replacing anything?
Yes....the hex on the ends is the same size on all of them.
Watch your left/right, front/rear and indexing...
Read up on basic suspension rebuilding for Mopars.
And........you may as well replace bushings if needed...while yer at it!

I will do that, thanks Kevin.

A torsion bar removal tool is a godsend for disassembly if you want to keep or sell the ones that come out.

Ok, thanks. I've replaced a set once but it was 6 - 7 yrs ago. I'm a disabled veteran, so I might have to farm some work out. But I ain't rich neither so I will do as much as I can.
Thanks Kevin.

I do have a question though. I'm also doing a complete front suspension replacement, my question is should I do it before or after the paint job? I'm going from Richard Petty Blue to the lime green or Mellow Yellow or whatever that color is called.
Thanks in advance Kevin.

It doesn't much matter....I'd do it before.....

Pull up the torsion bar removal video I did on Youtube. You may not need a tool. Its the one by Roll Another One Fabrications.

Gotta love a yellow Mopar.

If you're doing a color change, you should remove the entire suspension and driveline to allow prep and finishing of the engine bay and front end. It's critical on a Mopar to do that if you want it to look right to those that care.

rooster, so you like 1911's && '72's??lol. Semper Fi.
