Hi,
This is a first time user.I have a 1968 dodge charger, that I have had since 1981.I have gone through many phases of engine work etc over the years.I still have the original 383 block and it is now a stroker motor at 496 cubic inches. It now has a new 850 holley carb, with a upgraded mechanical pump. The fuel line has been upgraded to the nex larger size. Now for the problem. When I turn the car off after a good drive it always floods over after awhile and stinks up the garage.I have checked the float levels and even adjusted them lower then normal. The other problem is when car sits for a month there does'nt seem to be any gas in the carburetor and takes a long time to fill it by cranking. These problems have been like this for years even with different motor builds and carburetors and or fuel pumps. The carburetor I just removed was a new demon 850.The flooding and other symptons were the same. When the car is running it idles and performs great. There is no slalling or ang thing. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Sounds like your getting some heat build up causing pressure to force the needle off the seat. I seen a guy have this same problem and all he did was find out he had the wrong cap on tank might check the venting hole.
