A lil' something I drew about 30 years ago in response to a guy and his tall stories about the huge boat he used to tow behind his Range Rover. I worked in London, England at the time.....this guy was so full of it.

This story came about because I had been on holiday with my wife & parents up in Scotland. On our way through the Grampians (in the Highlands) we came across an old Series 3 Land Rover trying to pull a car back up a bank onto the parking area. The Landie was going backwards more than forwards.....so my family got out, we hitched my Range Rover up to the Land Rover, which was hitched to the car....engaged 4WD Lock, and pulled them both out of the heather clad bank. I only regret not getting a picture at the time...or video.

That drawing reminds me of when we bought our first Subaru in 1999.
The factory brochure showed a Subaru Outback towing a trailer with a massive cabin cruiser boat on it.
We loved our car and all, had it for twenty years before selling it. But I can positively guarantee that whoever designed the brochure never actually pulled a massive cabin cruiser on a trailer with a 1999 Legacy Outback. At least not for any distance. Or up or down any hills.

I live less than one mile from a very popular public boat ramp. A fun way to spend a Saturday morning is to pull up a chair and watch people trying to launch and retrieve their boats......

A friend of mine once saw a former (and very well known) All Black player retrieve his new boat .....but he forgot to hitch the safety hook on. Of course, when he planted the loud pedal to exit the ramp....the boat came off....badly bruising both the boat's hull and the owner's ego. A large crowd formed quickly. :D

I have seen people with their cars slowly being sucked into the tide.....fun, fun, fun.

Idiots buy these small SUV's thinking that just because they can tow, makes it great. They mostly forget about the stopping capabilities of said vehicles.

I never really appreciated my dad for the cool guy that he was. One neat story...
In 1970 he bought the first new vehicle my family ever had. A Ford three quarter ton truck, with 390 and four speed.
That thing was a monster, like a muscle car only it hauled stuff.
In about ‘71 we are at my cousins place in Nelson, B.C.
Our truck has a camper on it.
The public boat launch is level, but immediately climbs a steep hill up to the road. A guy in a Chev truck with camper is pulling his huge boat out of the water and breaks a motor mount. Dad calmly hooks a tow rope on and pulls the whole freakin’ works up the hill, onto the road. It was AWESOME!

Post#1, is that guy playing his piano or his organ?
