This might help some that want good sound in any old car that's also completely hidden & easy to put in for around $100. My biggest challenge was finding a cheap reliable 2-channel amp that could be hidden easily. There are many out there but most are either cheap junk or high end stuff that requires big power. I left the original radio untouched & used the rear 6 x 9" speaker holes which are on vintage mopars. Input can be anything with a 3.5mm output, I use an ipod but you can basically use anything- phone, mp3 player, etc. The sound is really good, can make your ears bleed if you like, & uses minimal power. Here's the basic stuff I used-
1) Boss Audio R1002 amp, ($30 from Online Stereo). Mounted under seat, used Velcro to attach to carpet, it's a pretty thin unit, super nice quality for the price.
2) Pair Rockford Fosgate R169X2 speakers ($30 from Online Stereo).
2a) Custom Auto Sound DVC69 dual coil speaker ($60 from ebay)- had to use this on my 65 B-body since it has only one speaker hole for some strange reason (my 65 A-body has 3 6x9" holes!)
3) Koss VC20 volume control ($9 from Amazon). Use this to control volume without looking at device & wrecking car.:happy11: I mount directly on ipod using male-male 3.5mm connector.
4) RCA male to 3.5mm female adapter ($4 from Amazon), used to connect input to amp.
5) Scosche 12AWG fuse holder for ATC fuses ($7 for 5, ebay), used for amp main power.
6) 10 amp ATC fuses ($5 for 5, Advance)
7) SPST miniature toggle switches ($9 for 5, ebay). I use these to turn the amp on & off, very tiny & fit in the stamped holes at the bottom of the dash.
There may be a few more 3.5mm adapters or extensions needed & of course some wire but this is basically all the stuff you need. Don't listen to the amp instructions saying you need 8AWG wire to power the thing, even the 12AWG I used is overkill but I have a ton of the stuff lying around. 14 or 16AWG should be more than enough. The 12V amp on-off uses virtually no power so any thin wire will work.
