if we have someone on the site that owns or does this for a living please pm have several ? thanks

Post your question as there is more than one right answer and maybe some one has been down the road you are going

I can understand his point of wanting to ask a pro ... there are often too many uneducated opinions on this site.

thanks for response but would rather just do it in a PM thanks again :thankyou:

Good luck in your quest Dale @snakeyes

I'm pretty much the opposite,
I need A/C in mine for 8-9 months a year

it's cold in the winter, but not unbearably cold "usually"
gets in the 40*s when it's 20*s outside
well insulated & insulate the door too, it helps

many are either propane (could be costly)
or natural gas fired (natural gas is way cheaper)
that's what they used in the dealerships too
best bang for the buck "out here"

electrical would be costly IMO
maybe a bunch of expensive solar panels & wind turbine,
might/could offset the costs
(expensive eco ****)

Radiated heat
(off a water-heater/boiler/water vessel, your house 40 gal. HW heater
probably isn't efficient enough to do it)
isn't very efficient when doors are opened & closed often
also it takes a long time to heat, it's always there thou
it's not cheap either, copper & brass, plumbing/plumber cha $$$$$ ching

I know a couple guys that have an abundance of wood
& use an old wood stove, to heat theirs
it takes more room up that way, need a good 6' of clearance too

there's coal fired
& waste oil fired too, in areas that allow that stuff

Radiant heated floors are an option too, that could get expensive
usually done prior to the garage floor pour
unless it in a cap of some sort, on-top of the concrete maybe

Floor coverings, something like Racedeck tiles, helps a little too
keep some of the cold off your body, a little insulation (not much)

I don't think I'm an expert, just experienced
attempting to help a bud, with a little info...

a few things to think about
I'd guess the budget or ongoing costs, long term
is a huge deciding factor

good luck

Ive received some good non car info here. However id advise using it as a basic understanding of the question
The final answer needs to be done by a trusted local contractor. There are to many variables that come into play and they cannot be addressed properly unless actually on the site and seeing exactly what the situation warrants.
My own thoughts are not to use hot water/ radiant heat unless you plan on having heat on all the time during cold weather. While ive read and heard of using hot water heaters for radiant heating systems, im not a fan of that. Read up and talk to plumbing contractor.
I worked years back for a larger shop that had hot water ceiling hung heaters. The system worked the same as a kickspace heater I had. Thermo called for heat, water temp rose, blower came on at heater. It was a nice system as there was no flame involved at the heater and no flu to deal with other than the flu at boiler. Plus radiant heat or baseboard in bathrooms or other closed area was now a possibility. Again this would be for a larger shop were heat was needed full time. Whatever is done its all mute if the place isn't insulated properly

Not an "Expert - but - I have this Natural Gas Heater, in My Garage. -- 30,000 BTUs -- Garage is 28 X 40 ft., and it does a great Job, here in N.E. Pa., where it gets pretty cold, in the winter.
