Need some advice. Will torch heat damage the chrome?

My coworker went home and tried the brake hone last night and it didn't work like he hoped.
The groove on the triple tree took a stone clean off the honing tool, so he went to plan C.
He wrapped a piece of sand cloth around a cylindrical buffing wheel and and ran it through the hole.

His ingenuity paid off and it worked.

That slot to the left of the hole is where a wedge goes in to spread the opening.
Take that bolt in the slot out.
X2, the best answer going!! I've done it that way many times. Do not heat it!!
