Gas gauge & sending unit

I have a '67 Belvedere II. The gas gauge only went to 3/4 with the old tank & sending unit. It dropped to empty slowly what I think was normal. With a new tank & new sending unit the gas gauge still only goes to 3/4. It seemed to drop faster. After driving on a full tank it dropped to 1/4 quite quickly. At 1/4 tank I filled up & it only took 5 gallons. With the sending unit disconnected the gauge goes to empty. Is there something on the gauge itself that can be adjusted? Thanks. Ray

That is a good article. If everything else is working I have also bent the pick up float arm to get the gauge to match the fuel level. It seems if you ohm different senders they will not always show the same resistance at the same arm locations.
