This might be a dumb question, but I have a autometer fuel pressure gauge in a gauge cup. I'm wanting to know if I can just loosen up the gauge cup and pull the gauge out without disconnecting the fuel line from behind the gauge? I want to pull the wires out for the light.

I have never heard of a fuel gauge that has fuel running to it.
Oil pressure, sure. Fuel though?

I would think your fuel line is connected to the gauge, not the cup. Two bolts on the back of the cup? Loosen them, and see if the gauge will slide out. (Dont want to disconnect because of a gauge isolator?)

Hopefully you are talking about a race car, with the fuel gauge mounted out the hood!! I dont remember mine being lighted at all (sounds like a potential very bad idea).

My fuel pressure gauge is mounted on the cowl. Its supposed to have a light.so i was wanting to get it working.

Why does it sound like a bad idea?

Id just be careful of potential sparking, but im sure if you follow mfg's instructions, copper line only, well grounded separately, you'll be ok. i'd have to look and see if mine can move out of the cup without loosening the line...

If you could look at yours and let me know i would appreciate it. I have the braided line coming out of the gauge.

Mine does. I piped it right off the end of my fuel block. Of course it is mounted outside above the cowl. I think Autometer still offers a diaphragm pressure transmitter to allow interior mounting of gauge.

I ran mine from a Tee. I couldn't afford an isolator as a poor PFC in the army. Attached it to the hood. Slide cup off and the wire is behind it.

I got real tired of replacing fuel pressure gauges that craped out because of cowl mounting. Bought the isolator, fuel pressure gauge inside the car going strong after 10+ years.

I'm pretty sure I have over 20 years on mine.

My fuel pressure gauge has been on the cowl for more than 20 years with no problems.

I've had my Autometer on the cowl for over twenty years as well. Must be a good one.
