How do you manage fenders that are good on the exterior but have surface rust on the inside?
Any help would be appreciated,Joey D

How bad is the surface rust? If its not too bad try using vinegar and water let it sit on it and it should eat away the rust.

If it's only surface rust then sand the crap out of it until it's all gone, treat it with some.sort of sealer, and then paint.
Mine were like this, after sanding I used a product called Penetrol (not sure if sold in US), and then undercoated and top coated with an oil based paint. I haven't put any stone chip paint on them, but you could so that too.

A sand blaster is man's best friend.

Sand blast, epoxy prime, and paint.

415 also works as a sealer after the rust is gone. The can also says you can apply directly over rust, but I wouldn't do that.

If they are for a restoration, have them dipped, and then E-coated. They'll be like new.
A little pricey, but worth it!

You can use a submersible pump to keep Evapo-Rust liquid flowing over large areas, like fenders. Or, you could use rags soaked in Evapo-Rust, use the Evapo-Rust Gel, or some of the other derusting gels.

I recommend wire wheel to remove the loose rust.

Evapo-Rust is about $17 per gallon.

I used the Evapo-rust on small parts. It works well. But on a whole fender or door. The rust is internal to the panels.
