I think the charger has a sure grip! The Mustang was doing the one wheel peel! And watch when the charger first takes off! There are no cars coming in the opposite direction. And then Steve McQueen tries to make the left turn, and can't, because out of nowhere all the cars magically appear and Steve can't easily get through. Watch it again carefully.

Why is it that at the 1:30 approx mark, the soundtrack of the Mustang shifting gears from 'Bullitt' was dubbed into this chase scene????

Cheap is the answer.

I did watch it again. And the light did change .but all those cars still appeared instantly. Its just hollywoods lack of continuity. That they don't expect us to notice.

Really hard packed rural road where the gravel is not in the main tracks, you can get a squeal with a non sure grip, and bias ply tires could leave black marks.

Miami Vice was a cool show making a breakout with cool music in the show. Yeah - 7 Up sounded like da Stang dubbed in, cutting out mostly as they thought, shifting gears since the ponty was an automatic. Notice same pro driver from the Bullitt flick. In any case a lot of work to make those chases. In Bullitt the stang had a lot of work done to handle the SF streets, read the only thing done on the charger was upping the t-bars. That charger had a short life...600 miles on the od before it was wrecked.
