UMTR had a 2 day race at Dragway 42 this weekend (separate race each day.)
Since I pissed away my lead in Columbus 2 weeks ago I came into the weekend in second by 1 point with the 3rd place guy 1 point behind me.

I also had to get the car back in shape after spitting out a pushrod last weekend. The car performed great all weekend.

I got the win on Saturday, then sealed the deal with a first round win Sunday before getting eliminated in the second round.

I also ran my car over the scales. It’s 45 lbs heavier with the ladder bar suspension and roll bar than the Caltrac suspension and no roll bar. (I’m also 5lbs heavier than last year, have to do something about that.)

Anyway, I am really happy with the season. I had 3 final round wins in UMTR, and 1 R/U.

I think I had a Street class win at Magnolia as well.

Definitely my best season, even though I can tell my driving is on the decline. I had a lot of luck, and the old saying “showing up is half the battle” applies.

Congratulations. 3450 with driver is pretty good for that body style.

Heck Padam, I could drive and we’d be at 3635 total weight. But then, we have 75yr old reflexes to deal with!

Congrats!! I remember going 7 rounds for the win with the slowest car in the field! It was great LOL

Congratulations on your left foot and right hand coordination. It takes concentration to get it right when going rounds.

Gus

Imo, that's still pretty light. I thought those years with a bigblock were over 3900, even without the driver!
It weighed 3980 before I started lightening it.

Boy, a starting point that heavy makes going fast a bunch harder! I prefer tiny little foreign cars with big American V8's, and all-up weights with driver around 2500 pounds. (I lost about twenty pounds recently, don't ask, I don't know how, so driver is 180)

Yeah, don’t get emotional when picking a race car.
In my defense, when I started this stuff I really didn’t know about weight being a big deal.

Thats great and congrats on the wins.
Neither did I know anything about weight beforehand, being that I was scammed into getting into Chevrolets by friends and not knowing about those trick Mopars until later.
Mopars brought the art of the deceivingly light car up to the next level, and I'm not even talking about the 64-65 Hemi cars.
What I love about these 3rd Gen Chargers and RR's is that they are the largest barges that can be tricked out to the max and still retain their beautiful sexy body designs.
3450 Lbs is a pretty decent weight for that car. Anyways, not to bum rush your thread, carry on with the STICK shift chronicles. Love it.

No sweat. I think I’ve told this story before.
I’ve always been into Mopars, probably because my dad liked them, although he had other cars. But I started driving in 79, and there was still a street scene in Akron but it was dying out.
I was out at a parking lot one night and me and my buddies were really geeked up cause there was a Superbitd there. There was also a guy with a light weight hot rod, I don’t remember but something like a 32 ford.
He was telling me he could beat the super bird and I thought he was nuts. Glad I didn’t bet money on it.

Yeah. I was always into Mopars from the very beginning, but as I said, I was led to believe that they had bad front end geometry and bad motors that didn't fly. Little did I know that this guy who I am not friends with anymore (long story) only wanted to steer me only for his best interests direction. He probably got waxed by a few Mopars in his race days and was angry that someone close to him wanted to build one. I was young and naive.
Later on, when I got my knowledge in line, I bought my own legacy by getting what I first loved, a Mopar which is the car I have now.
When that brat tried to talk smack about the '65 car not being a '64, I said, go get your own car. In other words, get your own Pizza Parlor as a friend of mine used to say. The sweet revenge was when he tried to emulate my car by buying a juiced up '63 Plymouth with a hot 440, 14 X 32's out back and all and I spanked him all five of the best of five runs with my '65.

Funny enough though, another friend of mine, had a '71 Hemi Super Bee Track Pak 4 speed-air grabber Charger. B5 Blue with a white vinyl top and interior. Loved that shape and style. It seared itself into my senses forever: hence the love of those Chargers with either a sponge box or with a clutch.
